Here is where you can get to know the candidates:

The 2 ways to vote in this election are via digital ballot (covered here) or you should have received a paper ballot in the mail. If you decide to vote please PLEASE let any of your E board members know or you can text me at 206.406.0194 with your name and "I voted" and I'll mark you down. Please let us know if you are running into problems with casting your vote or any other questions about the election that you may have or swing by the NATCA office M-F 07-1500L and I'd be more than happy to help. RIP Barry Krasner

Today I learned that NATCA President Emeritus, Barry Krasner has passed. For those that were not fortunate enough to hear or meet Mr. Krasner, he was one of the chief founding members of NATCA, served as just about every leadership role one could imagine, brought our union 3 CBA's as Chief Negotiator and was simultaneously our most large and humble figure NATCA ever had. Our National Building is named after him. He was an inspiration to many (myself in included) and led by example. Please take a moment to read the story I've linked below. He will be missed but his ideas and love for this union will live on. I leave you with this quote from Mr. Krasner:

"Both individually and organizationally, we have the obligation to leave the system and our professions in a better place than we found them. And the way to do that is to marshal our forces and to channel our energies into one cohesive voice.”

Joint NATCA Soldarity Event

I'd like to start off by thanking everyone who showed up to the Alki BBQ yesterday. In particular, Evan Gwinn for cooking, Tony Germann for bringing Troy's retirement gifts, and Amy (Amanda) Sizemore for brainstorming the bulk of the event. We are very lucky to have them be apart of our ZSE family.

That being said, we have another opportunity to get together next month. On Wed (FINALLY A WED!!!!) August 15th there will be a joint facility Solidarity Event at the Acme Bowl in Tukwila. In attendance will be our National President Paul Rinaldi, Executive Vice President Trish Gilbert and our own Northwest Mountain RVP Doug Pincock. All the details are covered on the flier attached to this email as well as posted on the NATCA Board at the facility. Please join us for a family friendly night of food, drinks, and bowling as well as getting to know your NATCA Leadership a little better. Thank you for your time.

July Update

Facility Update

First thing’s first, thank you to everyone that helped us send Troy off into retirement with our gratitude and a small token of our appreciation in the form of a portable grill and utensils along with some Gas Cards so he can put some miles and memories on his RV.

For the first time in almost a decade we will have a new FacRep. I will try my best to build on all of the great accomplishments Troy was able to secure for us. At the same time, I assume this role knowing that I have a huge amount of learning to do and I hope that I can earn your support as we learn and grow together. As with my predecessor, the door will always be open (maybe minus the noisy fridge) and I hope that I get the chance to see all of you come thru it with an opportunity for this E Board to work for you. We are absolutely stronger together and I hope that everyone reads that and BELIEVES it. Thank you for your support and this opportunity. Please put us to work for you.

Alki BBQ

Our ZSE BBQ will be this Friday at Alki Park (1702 Alki Ave SW, Seattle, WA) from 10 AM – 10 PM. We’ll be providing food and non-alcoholic beverages, gift bags for kids, raffle tickets for prizes throughout, and even a S’More station. I hope to see you all there.

National Elections

Finally, we are 27 days from the conclusion of our NATCA National elections. Currently I have been tasked with ensuring everyone is able to and does vote. I’ll attach a page with FAQ info regarding the digital vote but here is the minimum contact info:

Global Election Services (GES) Contact Information

VOTING PORTAL: https://ges.voting

HELP DESK: 1-800-864-1263 or helpdesk@voteges.com

One of the most consistent things I’m hearing from our local is that they don’t plan to vote because they don’t know enough about the candidates. Here are the links to our candidates:

Dave Riley for NATCA EVP

NOMINATION ACCEPTED! NATCA Brothers & Sisters, It’s time for a choice. My name is Dave Riley from Denver Tower and I am honored to announce that I have accepted the nomination for NATCA Executive Vice President.

Please take the time to know who might hold the keys to your profession. They will determine the future of our careers and I implore each of you to at least take a very quick moment to read up and use your vote. If you do decide to vote, please text me at 206.406.0194 with your name and “I voted” so I can annotate. If you’re not sure if you did that already, please feel free to tell me again. We have too much vested in the direction of NATCA to NOT determine who will take us there.

Thank you for your time and support.

National Election Update

Our NATCA National Elections are underway and here a few items of note. All electronic ballots have been processed as sent. However, it's not too late to register online and vote if you have not recently changed regions. As of yesterday, here are the stats for the NNM: 80/1276 or 6.3% participation. We are manually keeping track as best we can and would appreciate if you could let anyone on your E board know when you vote or if you have not been able to. You can even text me (2064060194 with your name and "I Voted" if that's easier for you. Please use your voice and if you need any information on the candidates, please refer to Troy's email, read up, and vote. Below are some of the issues that have come up so far:

Lessons learned so far with the electronic voting service:

•       All ballots have been e-mailed. If you don’t have one at this point

•       Some members were still receiving their ballots as late as 11 pm Tuesday

•       check spam and other email accounts.

•       If you have trouble using a cell phone to vote: use a desktop or laptop instead

•       Be careful on phones or computer that if it Auto-capitalizes your email address then it isn't recognized.

•       Make sure email addresses are lower case.  GES is case sensitive

•       If you're still having issues contact: GES Contact Info -Global Election Services Helpline 1-800-864-1263 or email helpdesk@voteges.com

If a member wants a mail ballot package, he or she should contact Global Election Services to request a duplicate ballot prior to the deadline.

NEW INFORMATION

MEMBERS MAY STILL REGISTER TO VOTE ELECTRONICALLY, as long as there was no change to Region, the member can simply register to vote electronically by visiting http://ges.voting and entering the required information. He or she should then receive a confirmation email with a voting code (there may be two separate emails) but then he or she can just cast the ballot electronically.  Usually takes 24 hours

TIME LEFT:

Wednesday, June 27, 2018 to and including Monday, July 30, 2018
