Local Update (MOUs and Local Meeting)

Good afternoon. A quick update on a couple of things:

We are progressing very well on the MOU's but have not been able to finalize them as of this e-mail. They are being vetted at the regional level for accuracy with the CBA and other non-negotiable items and should be back this week. No guarantee but that's the hope.

Mark your calendars:

  • All Members Local Meeting in Auburn at the Rainbow Cafe on Aug 27th @ 3 PM. Topics will be:
    • Art 46 as it pertains to employee movement
    • Proposed change to the finance policy for alcohol
    • Holiday party potential
    • Because the finalized BWS and PT MOUs will still be in negotiations we will be limited in what we can discuss on those 2 items but we WILL have plenty to talk about regardless.

As always, thank you for the time and the opportunity.

CISM info and Handling Media Requests

Good afternoon. I'm certain everyone is familiar with the stolen aircraft last night. I would first like to thank all of the amazing ATC work that everyone put in last night. In a situation that could have been much more terrible, you all once again made it work. Truly amazing work.

As far as the incident itself, our own Chris Schenk will be the POC for CISM if anyone needs to talk about the events from last night. Below is the info for CISM. If you would like to talk to a CISM team member that is not in our building, please, let myself or Chris know.

If you receive any media request, we are not commenting on this because it is an ongoing FBI investigation. All requests need to be funneled through your E Board and we'll forward it up through the chain. Again if you have one, please let us know.

Please feel free to reach out to me at 206.406.0194 if you have any questions whatsoever. Thank you for your time.

Local Update (MOU's, CFS, Solidarity Events)

Here is a quick update for your consumption:

MOU's

  • Next Monday we will officially begin the negotiation process for next year's MOUs. Just so we're all clear, nothing is agreed upon at this time. Anything else is rumor. Please come chat with myself or any of your E board if you have any questions or concerns.

CFS 2018

  • Every year we have the NATCA/FAA event known as Communicating For Safety. This year it will be on 10/22-24 with arrival and departure typically the day before and after those dates. A unique perk of this event is that the FAA will grant excused absence to attend. Here's what you need to do:
    • Register for the excused absence, local request form and NATCA registration HERE
      • Please refrain from registration until after you've notified your E board. Registration is $100 per person and if you want the local to supplement, we need to know before you buy. If you proceed without notifying us, the cost could be all on you.
    • Next you'll need to reach out to your E Board and let them know you intend to go. We will go over expectations and detailed fiscal assistance the local can provide.
    • Get off the schedule. The EA is very likely to be approved under the condition you get off the schedule. If that means getting leave approved (in order it's received, of course) and then converted to EA afterwards, that's acceptable.
    • After we get a finalized list, ZSE NATCA will figure out how to supplement attendees via a stipend. The more attendees, the smaller the stipend.
    • Please do not secure airfare until you get the green light from your E board or do so knowing that there is a risk of getting a small fraction of it paid for.
    • If you have questions, please ask.

Solidarity Events

  • Solidarity Event at the Acme Bowl in Tukwila @ 6PM on Aug 15th. A family friendly event where our National and regional leadership will be on hand.
  • All Members Local Meeting in Auburn at the Rainbow Cafe on Aug 27th @ 3 PM

That's all for now. I will be in or around the office all week and if you can't get me there you can reach me at 206.406.0194 anytime. Thank you for your time.

Local Update (MOU's, Solidarity Events, Charity)

Good morning everyone. After a Magical (and expensive) trip to Disney World, I'm back and eager to continue the work our E board was handling in my absence. Some very quick bullet points on what's happening:

  • All of our MOU's are in the final stages of drafting in anticipation of our U1 proposals to management. Your E board has been working tirelessly and we hope to have a finished product very soon. This year we will have myself, Derek Adams and Tony Germann negotiating on behalf of the local.
  • Mark your calendars:
    • Solidarity Event at the Acme Bowl in Tukwila @ 6PM on Aug 15th. A family friendly event where our National and regional leadership will be on hand.
    • All Members Local Meeting in Auburn at the Rainbow Cafe on Aug 27th @ 3 PM
    • NATCA ZSE/NCF Back-to-School Backpack stuffing party for our local community. Please read the flyer by Amy Sizemore and join us this Sunday to give back to the community. If you have questions, please reach out to Amy or myself.

NATCA Charitable Foundation has donated funds to allow us to buy school supplies for children in need. We need your help stuffing backpacks! All backpacks will go to the charity, Communities in Schools of Auburn. Come by Amy Sizemore’s house and we’ll get this knocked out quick! They say many hands make light work but there aren’t any rules against a drink in one of your hands ;)

Where: 10503 174th Ave E, Bonney Lake, 98391

When: Sunday, August 5th, 3pm

I’ll have some snacks and cheap beer, but if you’re looking for gluten free, organic, fair trade, free range hummus, you’ll have to bring that on your own.

Thank you for your time and I hope to see you at one or all of these events.
