2018 Pay Increase and Seattle Locality Adjustment via James Darlington

As many of you may have seen in previous emails our national average pay increase in January 2018 is 1.9%

This is broken down to a 1.4% increase to basic pay (which does not include locality) and a national average locality increase of .5%

Seattle’s locality has increased to 25.11% from 24.24%

Or in other words a .87% increase to Seattle locality.

Taking the 1.4% increase to basic pay and adding the .87% increase to Seattle locality we can expect to see a 2.27% increase to our base pay this January.

For further pay related questions please feel free to contact me.

Legislative Activism Class via Richard Kennington

If you are interested, please let any of your E Board members for final approval.

Thanks,

Alex Navarro III

NATCA ZSE VP

Dear Member,

There is still space available in the basic legislative activism class in Las Vegas on February 21-22. Participants will learn why NATCA needs to be legislatively active, what opportunities there are to get involved, what our efforts have done for our career and what we face in the future. This class will prepare attendees to fulfill the role of Facility Legislative Rep. Facreps should remember that if they do not have a facility legislative rep then the duties fall to them according to the NATCA constitution.

If you would like to attend I encourage you to visit portal.natca.org and register sooner then later. If there is someone in your facility that you think would be interested in NATCA's legislative activity, please share this with them.

In solidarity,

Richard Kennington

Northwest Mountain Legislative Chair

NATCA Disaster Relief Fund

One of the topics that we were briefed on during the recent Center Rep meeting was the ongoing disaster relief efforts. If you didn’t read the notes from the meeting, Puerto Rico and St. Thomas are still devastated and will not be back to normal for years to come.  Frankly, they may never fully recover.

I am currently in a meeting with the Employee Assistance Program (EAP) and this matter is of great concern and as you read this, tireless efforts are underway to help those affected and displaced by these disasters. Lodging is near impossible to obtain and efforts to deliver aid is difficult at best.

For those that remain, homes are destroyed and the stories of a lack of food, water and electricity are sadly accurate. A number of our Brothers and Sisters that remain to keep ATC functioning are being squeezed into the few remaining hotels until homes can be rebuilt.  At this point, the FAA has declined to pick up the tab for these expenses. NATCA is fighting to rectify this and, in the meantime, paying for the hotels.

All of this is to say that they still need your help. One way you can is to donate to the NATCA Relief Fund. Many of you have and for that our membership is grateful. As of the writing of this update, we are showing about $87K in charitable contributions. We can do better. I am asking that you all join me in doing recurring contributions to this fund as I will be putting in at least $10 every payday (I’ll tell my wife after this) to keep the efforts going.

Again, here is the link, please consider, and thank you for taking the time to read this.
