Hi C Area,
A couple things for you…
First - a BIG ol’ CONGRATS to Jun for certifying on R47/48! Well done to everyone involved in his success!
Schedule update - I gave Stan a copy of what we’re proposing…. and now we wait. Facility MOUs aren’t finished yet, so we can’t go over specific start times or anything, but I don’t think his initial response was negative. Guides are going to be a struggle as we try to keep them up. If we don’t keep guides up, we are able to lose people, affecting your ability to get leave and for the area to staff when we need it for the operation. I have reviewed our in person briefing attendance for 15 in person briefings (we are sitting at about 63% attendance which is not acceptable), there have been no crew briefings, and the facility would like areas to meet on a regular basis (which won’t happen until other areas are healthier). I tell you this so you know what I’m bringing to management to support our guides going up or, at the least, remaining where they are. We need bodies to staff the operation and support the other requirements we have.
The schedule was not published on time yesterday, I will be filing a grievance on this.
I talked to TMU last week about ZLC tunneling aircraft for sector saturation. TMU knows nothing about this, it is something the ZLC areas have started doing on their own. One thing to point out is when an aircraft is “T”’d off, the high sector MAP numbers will not change as the numbers are already reflecting the tunneled aircraft. I’m hoping when I’m in SLC this week I can check in with some area reps to talk about this further, but due to aircraft who were held at FL280 in moderate turbulence, this is something that has gained the attention of upper management. I will keep you posted.
I am leaving for SLC tomorrow (Monday) and will be out of the facility until next Sunday, 9/28. If you can’t reach me, Devin will be around and available until I return (619-818-5335).
Have a really good week and Happy Fall Equinox tomorrow! It feels like it out there….
In Solidarity,
Crumbley
